Vacuum the Jian gently using a suction-only setting (avoid a rotating beater bar, which can pull wool fibres). Some light shedding is normal for new wool rugs in the first few weeks and settles with regular vacuuming. Rotate the rug every few months for even wear.

Act fast: blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth, working from the outside in. Never rub or scrub. For stubborn marks, use a wool-safe cleaner diluted in cool water and blot, then air-dry fully. Avoid soaking the backing.

Keep the Jian out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading, and use an anti-slip underlay to stop shifting and cushion the pile. Air the rug occasionally and arrange a professional wool clean every 12–18 months to refresh the fibres.
